Job Description:
Optimization Engineer will perform complete market optimization reviews for the western region. Optimization Engineer will also complete implementation of Optimizaiton Plans. Responsible for optimization project plans and assisting implementation engineer with follow through and completion of optimization plans. Will work closely with regional Transport Performance, Design and planning teams for optimization input. Will work with Planning and Design teams.
Works independently with minimal supervision. Uses good judgment to determine the appropriate course of action related to transport design, cost, planning, optimization, and performance of the network. The planning of transport network facilities and MTSO equipment requires an in depth understanding of telecommunications networking. The use of discretion and judgment is required when choosing particular design options that could have serious financial, network reliability or network quality implications. Such options may include selection of DS3 hub designs, T1 transport service providers, and Method of Procedure development for introducing new transport facilities into the network. Independent judgment must also be exercised when analyzing performance data and making design changes, as needed to improve cost or quality. Such changes may include: optimizing DS3 hubs, changing T1 carriers, modifying equipment configurations.
Functinal/Technical: Knowledge of data communications, protocols and technologies such as: TDM, ATM, Frame Relay, SS-7, TCP/IP, X.25, SONET and VoIP. Ability to interpret topography, network design maps and CAD designs. Strong personal computer skills required including knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, MapInfo, Visio and Granite provisioning software. Good working knowledge of databases required.
performance duties. Must have strong communication skills, prior vendor management experience. This position requires in-depth knowledge of the PSTN, LERG and telecommunications transport networks and their configurations. Advanced knowledge of circuit provisioning. Associates degrees in applied sciences preferred, minimus 5-6 years technical Telecom experience required.
Minimum Required Skills / Competencies:
At least 1 year recent experience implementing Optimization Plans,in wireless enviornment. In depth knowledge of transport design and making optimization business cases. Must know provisioning and have worked heavily with LECS and Telco vendors.
Candidate must have previous experience in Transport Optimization. Candidate must know how to Optimize an existing network, as well as prepare business cases to implement projects and ideas. Candidate must have excellent experience with mapinfo, advanced skills in excel, experience in Lerg. Candidate must understand the complete makeup of a circuit from the switch to a cell site, as well as end-to-end provisioning process, in including MACDs. Must have experience putting project plans together in MS Project. Must have previous experience managing a Telco Project.
